Vignan Educational Foundation (Tanzania) was established on 28 Aug 1996 in Dar es Salaam and duly registered to supervise the activities of IMTU. VEF (T) is wholly owned by VEF. Bangalore. Mr. Katuri Subba Rao is the Chairman of the board of trustees. Col. (Retd.) CVS Ratna Kumar is the Director of Vignan Educational Foundataion (Tanzania). VEF(T) owns International Medical And Technological University at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

"The initiative of the Vignan Educational Foundation in setting up this University in Tanzania is consistent with our belief that knowledge is universal and can not be the preserve of national societies. It is indeed appropriate that this endeavor has taken root in a land that has given birth to one of the greatest teachers of our time, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere. It is also note worthy that the seeds of this venture were sown by His Excellency President Mkapa himself during his tenure as the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education. My Government stands ready to support this project in whatever way we can."
